Three Things Everyone Should Know About CBD

Three Things Everyone Should Know About CBD

October 07, 2020

There are a lot of myths surrounding CBD. This is partly because CBD is derived from hemp and cannabis, both of which are plants that suffer from unwarranted stigma and misinformation.

If you’re interested in learning more about this health trend, here are three things everyone should know about CBD.

1) CBD comes from cannabis and hemp plants

CBD, which is short for cannabidiol, is one of the many natural chemicals that are found in cannabis and hemp plants. These natural chemicals are called cannabinoids.

Cannabinoids work by interacting with your endocannabinoid system, which is something that exists inside every mammal. This system was recently discovered by scientists and over the last two decades researchers have labored to learn more about the ECS and natural occurring cannabinoids. The endocannabinoid system keeps our bodies in “balance” by sending messages to different tissues. Our endocannabinoid system affects the brain, skin, digestive system, salivary glands, and more.

While we know that dozens of cannabinoids exist, CBD is one of the more well-known and well-studied ones, and it’s one of the most prominent cannabinoids in the plant.

Another prominent cannabinoid is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is the cannabinoid which is responsible for making you feel intoxicated. If your CBD products contain little or no THC, they will not make you feel “high.”

2) It’s legal to use hemp-derived CBD throughout the United States

Thanks to the Farm Bill of 2018, hemp cultivation became federally legal for the first time in around 60 years. What this means is that hemp is now legal throughout the United States. Cannabis, however, is not legal at a federal level.

What is the difference between hemp and cannabis? Scientifically, hemp and cannabis are basically the same plant: they’re actually the same species. However, the legal definition of hemp is that it must contain less than 0.3 percent THC - as mentioned above, THC is the part of cannabis that makes you intoxicated.

So, while cannabis is not legal throughout the US, hemp-derived CBD is totally legal. The CBD in our products is derived from hemp.

3) CBD is said to have multiple health benefits

While CBD can’t make you feel “high,” it seems to have multiple health benefits, according to scientific research.

The research on CBD is in its infancy, which means that there’s still plenty of research that needs to be done before we understand it in its entirety. However, some studies suggest that CBD can help with:

If you’re interested in using CBD to address any health conditions you may have, it’s a good idea to talk with a doctor beforehand. And always make sure your CBD is high quality.

While the word “cannabidiol” may sound intimidating, CBD is currently a huge trend for a good reason: many people find that it enhances their health and sense of wellbeing. Interested in trying CBD for yourself? You can now buy CBD online. Take a look at our CBD oils and CBD pre-rolls!
