Storing a CBD pre-roll properly helps it stay fresh for longer. But how should you store a pre-roll?
CBD pre-rolls, also known as hemp joints, are like cannabis joints but they contain hemp. Because CBD pre-rolls only a tiny amount of THC, they cannot make you feel intoxicated - and they’re totally legal in the US.
To store CBD correctly, a glass container is your best bet. Here’s what you need to know about storing CBD to keep it fresh for longer.
If you haven’t used smokable hemp before, you might be surprised to learn that pre-rolls actually do go stale.
The hemp inside it dries out, which means that it could irritate your throat a little. It could also burn faster because it’s dry. If exposed to high temperatures, CBD pre-rolls could also become less potent, as the heat can degrade the cannabinoids and terpenes in the hemp.
When stored incorrectly, CBD pre-rolls could also grow mold. While some types of mold won’t hurt you, others can (especially when you inhale spores while smoking). For this reason, it’s best to avoid humid containers at all costs.
To avoid stale or moldy pre-rolls, it’s important to store it properly. The best way to store hemp pre-rolls is in a clean glass container. This container should ideally be airtight and kept away from light, heat, and moisture.
Our CBD pre-rolls come in handy glass tubes. This packaging doesn’t just make it look good—it’s a useful way to store your pre-roll. The cork keeps the tube airtight, preventing oxygen and humidity from entering the container.
If you don’t have one of our glass tubes, you could try using an airtight glass mason jar. It’s important to make sure the glass jar is clean and dry - any condensation in the jar can make the hemp moist and moldy. You could use dehumidifying beads, such as Boveda, to reduce moisture in the jar.
Many people also store CBD pre-rolls in Ziploc bags or sealed sandwich bags. While this will probably prevent your pre-rolls from going stale for a while, it might get squashed if you’re transporting it. If you’re using a plastic bag as storage, make sure that it’s sealed closed.
Many people store cannabis and hemp in tins. While this may seem like a good idea, tins are seldom airtight. This means that light, moisture, and humidity can seep in.
If you’re leaving your pre-rolls out on your desk or in your pocket, its quality will probably decrease within a matter of days.
When stored correctly, CBD pre-rolls should last a long time. While there’s no scientific studies on how long hemp will last when stored correctly, most say that it’s good for up to a year, although fresher is obviously better.
